Here are tips to make babies love eating, which usually work for my daughter:
1. Do not be bounded by rules of formal mealtimes. Feed babies when they are hungry or ask for food (but still at least three times per day), this way they will eat ravenously because they are hungry. If we feed them when they are not hungry, they will be reluctant to eat.
2. Prepare their favorite food with many variations, asked what they wanted to eat, and let them help you prepare the food. They will feel proud with their handiwork, and will definitely eat a lot.
3. Do not provide heavy snacks especially near meal time. For example don’t give chocolate cake, brownies, etc. near mealtime. Select only nutritious snacks with not too much calorie content, so they won’t get too full.
4. Choose infant formula which has good nutritional value but contain not too high calories. So they won’t get full from drinking milk.
5. Make mealtime a fun time for children. If they can play, eat together with neighboring peers, and do not necessarily have to eat on dining table, or eat by force, they will be happy when time to eat has come.
Here are some of my daughter favorite recipes:
Corned Beef Noodle Pizza
Ingredients:
noodles
1 – 2 tbsp corned beef
half carrot stick, diced
1 – 2 eggs
1 garlic clove
salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
boil carrot until soft, drained
boil noodles, drained, mix with a little cooking oil
grind onion, and add into beaten eggs together with salt and pepper, corned beef, carrot, and noodles
pre-heat oil in a non-stick frying pan
fry the mixture in low heat until cooked.
cut it into small pieces
enjoy with tomato sauce/ chili sauce if you like
but my daughter prefers to eat it with mayonnaise
Fried Cat-Fish
Ingredients:
500 gr. catfish
Spices:
3 garlic cloves
1 tbsp coriander
turmeric
salt to taste
Directions:
clean catfish
grind all the spices into a paste
mix the paste with warm water
soak cleaned catfish in seasoned water for about 30 minutes
fry until cooked
Macaroni Soup
Ingredients:
¼ chicken
2 – 3 handfuls macaroni
1 carrot stick
cauliflower
leeks
1-2 sticks of sausages
Spices:
3-4 garlic cloves
pepper, nutmeg, salt
seasoning broth (I usually use al sultan seasoning broth that is MSG free)
Directions:
cut chicken into small pieces, cleaned
boil chicken with 1 L water until tender
boil macaroni with 0.5L water until soft
grind all the spices, sauté it with 1 tbsp oil, add diced vegetables into the skillet, sauté well
stir sautéed vegetable into simmering chicken broth
add macaroni, and diced sausage
